MY STORY
Me vs. The Bus Bully
It was fourth grade, and I was shaking inside.
I was face-to-face with the bus bully.
He called me an idiot as I walked up to get off the bus.
There was no other way off.
I was terrified.
This kid terrorized other kids. I remember watching him pick up another kid and throw him down on the ground. We were all scared of him.
Then one day, he blocked my way when I needed to get off the bus. He sneered at me and called me an idiot.
I looked him in the eye and said, "No, I'm not." Then I brushed past him and walked off the bus.
My hands were shaking. My heart was pounding. But I did it. And when I got off that bus,
I was so proud of myself. Not because I won the standoff. But because I knew who I was. His words didn't change that.
